Overdue Update!!

Hello All!!

Sorry for the LONG overdue update!! It's been VERY busy around here since my last posting!
I'm sure you all know about our 'new' little one (8 months old already!) Noelle. We had her on December 23rd, 2010.
And if you didn't hear - we are expecting again in December (again!) the week between Noelle and Malachi's birthdays.... I think with 3 birthdays right around Christmas - we're going to be 'presents'ed (is that a word?) out!!

School is starting next week and I am secretly doing my happy dance! We have many changes this year and one major one is that I'm not going back to work for Arapahoe. I'm very excited to stay home this year but kinda sad as well. I loved being able to see my children throughout the day and have them come and find me when they needed things. BUT - change was much needed!! My stress levels where going off the charts and I needed a break!! SO - I am going to continue my Sign Language education through the ESU 9 and I am also set up to be a substitute 'signer' at other schools around us if/when their interpreters need to have a day off..... I'm excited but nervous about that because I'm a NUT about schedules, and walking into somewhere, where I have no clue what is going on and times of things, how that person deals with the child....etc.... is going to test my patience levels! But again - it wont be to often and I'll be saving huge amounts on daycare and getting the rest I need for this upcoming new addition!!

Anthony will be a Sophmore already....where has the time gone?! After a VERY successful football, wrestling, and track season's last year - we are already anticipating on a very busy schedule from him as well! I think the high light of my year for him was his wrestling career. He did such an awesome job!! He even got to go to State - as a FRESHMAN!! He got beat out his first 2 matches - but it was a great learning year!

Dalton will be entering his 1st year of Junior High this year - the big 7th grade!! He is looking forward to all the different sports!! We were going through shoes the other day trying to figure out who needs new shoes and stuff for school, and I realized that Dalton's feet have grown SO much - that his feet are bigger than Anthonys. We were laughing and telling Anthony that he can now have his little brothers 'outgrown' hand-me-downs instead of it being the other way around.... he wasn't to impressed, but he was laughing as well. Dalton is starting off the year by being a student manager for the HS football team. Its nice to see Anthony and Dalton getting to 'share' in a few things and so they can have something in common at school.

Jorjah will be going into the 5th grade this year. It doesn't seem like my 'baby girl' is that old already. She still seems so little and that she shouldn't be that old!! She is really excited for this year, due to the fact that in Arapahoe - in 5th grade, you get to start 'moving' to all your classes and go to different teachers. I just think that she likes that she can get up and walk around ever 50 minutes (haha)!! The past couple years were kinda hard on her I think. Her class is VERY 'clicky' and there where lots of times that she would end up by herself alot. But I think she finally got herself set into a group of friends that she's happy with, and she gets to spend time with. Plus I've been trying to get her 'included' more with Girl Scouts, and lots of the school activities.

Jonah is headed into the 3rd Grade with one of my favorite teachers! Mrs. Schutz is a very 'hands on' teacher and makes things fun to learn. She also teaches them ALOT about the computer and even has them make their own podcasts. I hope that Jonah likes it this year; last year he struggled as well. He is SO smart and off the charts for his ITBS testing... but his attitude and his inability to pay attention kills him. He was caught several times last year reading 'leasure' books during actual class time. His teacher was not happy with him..... SO - I'm really hoping this year goes smoother for him as well.

Joselyn gets to move on to the Afternoon preschool. She loved last year and is counting down the days till she gets to go back! She is such a smart little thing - she could've gone on the Kindergarten, but since the school here is more..... advanced (?) (Kindergarten is looked at as 1st grade, and Afternoon Preschool is looked at as Kindergarten now).... I just felt that it wouldn't hurt her to have preschool again.

Gavrie is in for a real treat this year - he gets his first experience of school! Morning Preschool!! I'm not sure if he's ready or not.... but we're gonna try. He is so stubborn at times - I just pray he gets something out of this year!! lol Glen and I comment often about how he is going to be the one that tests every last nerve we have!!

Then we have our little Malachi. He is our late bloomer. We had to get him on the Early Childhood Intervention Team due to the fact he didn't want to walk or talk - and he was 19 months old! But since we did that - he is now RUNNING, and shows no chance of slowing down! He still doesn't talk a whole lot but I have taught him several 'signs' that he can show us when he wants/needs something. Lately, Mali has been very 'interested' in the toilet.... everything he can get his hands on, ends up in the toilet. Needless to say, we have gone through 3 rolls of toilet paper in the past 2 days due to him just throwing everything in. He lost my make-up bag (which I did eventually find under the desk) and he just recently lost my zipdrive that had all my important papers, notes, and 'Lending Library' items through the CWNP.   I told Glen 'As much as we wanted to get him to walk, how the heck do we get him to sit down now'?? He is a VERY busy boy!!

Then is our newest - Noelle. Our Happy Girl. She has been such a fun addition to our family. She is a chunky little miss, who loves to laugh and smile. She is already trying SO hard to crawl.... wow time flies by!! She is also already eating almost 2 full jars of baby food. She LOVES to eat! When we go and spend the day somewhere else she gets kinda 'pissy,' because she can't jump in her jumper. She LOVES her jumper and will spend so much time in that thing, that she will fall asleep in in! My favorite thing is when you walk into a room and she sees you, she just lights up with a huge smile and starts babbling. Just melts you!

Glen is still working at the Ethanol plant in Lexington. His Love of softball still has not diminished either.... He started up a team again this year to play Co-Ed Softball in Lexington. His team finished with the proud 2nd place finish in the league. (Although even the winning team said that we should've gotten 1st since we beat them - but o'well) We got a really cool plaque that we all signed and had team pics taken so that we can take them into the sponsers. Was a really fun year to play.... no arguments, but alot of 'hurts'!! He's already planning on next year!!

As for me - Between my classes, the kids and their schedules, I'm lucky to get anything done! I'm just glad to stay home this year and take a 'breather'!!

Well - Think that's all for now - I'll try and update more; now that I have time - HAHA

New Title!!

Ok....Yes, had to change the name of our blog, it was bugging me!!! I was in a hurry picking that out one night, and had my camera sitting next to me....thats why 'The Strickland Shutter' was....BUT after thought was - I hated it!!

SOOOO... As much as a 'Saga' as our family is; and for those of you that don't know what 'Saga' means: "Any long, involved story or narrative, often dealing with colorful or adventurous deeds."

That pretty much sums up our family right there!!! We are a pretty colorful bunch who are pretty adventurous, and our 'story' is constantly changing....SO, I thought it fit us MUCH better!!!

Hello All!!

Well, this is going to be a new 'adventure' for me! I am going to try and start this blog, so that family we don't get to see often, can come sit down and see what is new and going on with us!!

This year has already seem to be flying by! It seems like school just started yesterday!!
Anthony is a freshman in high school this year. Where has the time gone?? He is staying busy with football and FFA so far this year. It seems like we are always running him in for something! As a freshman, he is already taking Geometry.....which totally scares me!! He brings me his homework and I just have to give him the 'blank' stare! But he is a BIG help when Dalton has questions about his Algebra!!

Dalton is a 6th grader this year. He is also staying busy with his many activities! He is still playing the guitar for band, and is attending 'Wednesday School' on wednesday nights (a local pastor comes to the school, plays games with the kids for a little bit, and then they have a bible study and 'get into' Gods word. He really enjoys going!). He is still counting down the days until wrestling starts....then we will be driving him everywhere as well!!

Jorjah is a 4th grader this year. She also enjoys going to Wednesday School and is also playing on a volleyball league. She will be soon joining the Arapahoe Girl Scout chapter as well. She really enjoys doing any type of 'craft' that you throw at her. She is currently 'hounding' me about finishing some hats that she is 'looming' (Thank you Aunt DeAnn for teaching us this!!). She really enjoyed a 'day out' with mom and Aunt DeAnn to the 'Wooley Mammoth' in Kearney for an afternoon of a knitting class. (Mom is all thumbs attempting this, so Jorjah is 'helping' me figure it out!!)

Jonah is a 2nd grader this year. His teachers all comment on how smart he is. He is currently in the top reading group in his class, and has been reading 'Chapter Books' since Kindergarten.....now if I can just get him to be that 'attentive' to his chores!! He loves to go outside and have 'adventures' around our little farm. There have been many times that I have to ring the 'dinner bell' to get him to come back to the house (whether its time to eat or not!!)!

Joselyn is in her first year of PreSchool at Arapahoe Schools. She loves being able to go to school with the other kids and to get to see them during the day. She is already learning her alphabet and the 'sounds' that they make. (I'm just glad that I know 'Visual Phonics' as well....otherwise I wouldn't have a clue as to what she was doing!!) She loves bringing her papers home at the end of the week and 'reading' her books to us. Her teacher also commented on her 'quiet intelligents' and how she just soaks everything in, but doesn't say anything, and then when asked later - can be the first one to tell you how to do it. My whole thought though was ''quiet''??? At home, she's one of the LOUDEST!!! lol  O'well, atleast she's loving school!!

Gavrie is 2 yrs old, and on the days that dad's not home, he goes to a local daycare. He really loves Patti's and has really opened up there. Except I want to know - why is it that he'll go on the 'big boy potty' there, and NOT at home???? Whats the deal??

Malachi is currently 9 months old, and is our happy boy. He always has a big grin for everybody and loves to giggle. I love how his smile lights up a room, when he see's you walk in it. It truly melts my heart. He STILL is not crawling though, but we finally figured out that it has to do with our hardwood floors. He HATES having to play on them. At Patti's and her nice soft, cushy carpet, he loves to play on the floor. We decided that we're going to have to invest in some good area rugs!!

And our newest.....is still growing and doing good!! We still have no clue what it is (Glen is swearing its a girl, I'm swearing its a boy), but as long as it's healthy I don't care what it is!! Where all my other children where born around 37 weeks....for this one, 37 weeks is Christmas Eve!! SO, we might have a Christmas Eve baby, and a New Years Eve baby (Malachi). So, here we are debating on names again. But depending on how close it comes to Christmas, I will say that 'Christmasy names' are in the mix.

Glen is still working for CEL (Cornhusker Energy - Lexington). He is the Shift Supervisor/Lead Operator. As long as the days are (12 hr shifts) I LOVE that he usually only works about 14 days a month!! He is still an avid Husker and NASCAR lover. He also enjoyed playing and coaching our co-ed softball team again this past summer. It gives him something to do that he loves, and its good to see him so excited during the games!!

As for me....I am still working for the Arapahoe School system as a 'Signing Para'. I am slowly making ground on getting my Interpreters licence! I have also gone back to school for my education degree and will 'eventually' have a degree in Deaf Education. I truly feel that, that is where God is calling me to be. I absolutely LOVE what I do, and with all the classes and workshops that I get to attend, I learn so much more; plus, it is SO interesting to me!!! I don't know if  my kids 'tolerate' what I do, or if they actually like learning sign as well, but it is SO handy for them to be able to know what I'm saying to them, when signing to them across a busy and noisy room!!!

Well, I think that that is our newest news for now... I hope that all of our loved ones can keep up on our 'news' with this new 'tool'.... please let me know what you think!!!
Love you All!!
